A trip to Basel in November 2025
Everyday while Michael was at work, I walked to the Rhine river in Basel to explore. One side of the river is where many churches and old city walls are, the other side is newer and where many people live and work.
I’m always drawn to door ways and the details in color and texture in new places.
These doors are from Basel and Lucerne, Switzerland.
This day, I went to the Basler Munster Cathedral and used the tram to get across town. Later, we ended up at a night market where we had rolls filled with raclette cheese and lots of chocolate dipped fruit.
We had some time to wander through the Kunstmuseum Basel and see the art and explore the other side of the river.
This day, I went to a forest preserve about 30 minutes outside of the city center of Basel and was happily surprised to find endless wild mushrooms and dense forests.
Throughout the week, I spent most afternoons at a cafe or coffee shop nearby and got familiar with the neighborhood that our hotel was in.
On our last full day in Basel, we took a train ride to Lucerne. We took a cog wheel up to the top of Mount Pilatus at almost 7,000 feet.
