Sylvan Lake State Park, Eagle Colorado

Sylvan Lake State Park in Eagle, Colorado is a beautiful place to hike and camp in the fall or any time of year.

These photos are from early October and it was already getting down to about 35 degrees fahrenheit in the evening, so it was easiest to rent a cabin. You can find cabin rental information here. The cabins have heat and electricity without outlets. It was perfect to retreat inside after dinner when the fire wasn’t keeping us warm enough.

During the day, there are many hiking trails that go around the lake, that are connected to trails behind the cabins and more available to explore. The trails are only about 8 miles long in total. There is also the option to go fishing or kayaking at the lake. There are picnic tables and benches around the lake as well.

There is no cell service once inside the park, but it’s only about a 20 minute drive into town if you need service or to get groceries.

While inside the park, we saw many herds of elk, different kinds of birds and even some fox. The hiking was quiet, but the overlooks were beautiful.

This park is great for a day trip or a short camping trip. Although it’s small, it’s very quiet and secluded which makes for a nice getaway if you like to disconnect.
