Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding Photographer - Idaho Springs, CO

This wedding was such a vibrant celebration. This awesome couple hired Jessica, a drag queen to be their officiant. She was incredible and orchestrated several drag performances during cocktail hour and dinner!

The disco balls, late night milkshakes, the grand entrance made on roller skates- everything was high energy and embodied all of the things these two seemed to love most.

Some great things about Blackstone Rivers Ranch in Idaho Springs:

  1. The venue is lovely. The ceremony site is next to the creek between some pine trees and has wood benches for guests to sit. The getting-ready rooms are spacious inside and have deck areas for bridal or groom portraits. The reception area is in a big, beautiful tent that has a lot of room for seating, a dance floor, dessert tables and a bar in the tent as well. Outside the tent, there are fireplaces and a wood covered bridge which is a great place for couples portraits and to view the creek from above.

  2. There is a nice wooded area that makes a great first look location with privacy.

  3. There is room outside the tent for late night snack vendors! A few weddings that I’ve photographed here have had late night drink/coffee trucks outside.

  4. Tall ceilings in the tent for dramatic florals. I love seeing how flowers are draped inside the reception tent. They always look elegant.

If you’re planning your wedding at Blackstone Rivers Ranch in Idaho Springs, I’d love to document the day for you. Let’s connect and create!

Basel, Switzerland

A trip to Basel in November 2025

2025 was a full year of international travel mainly for weddings I was attending. And this trip to Switzerland was a bonus trip that I was able to tag along for while my partner worked in the city.

Each morning in Basel, walked to the Rhine river to explore. One side of the river is where many churches and old city walls are, the other side is newer and where many people live and work.

I’m always drawn to door ways and the details in color and texture in new places.

These doors are from Basel and Lucerne, Switzerland.

This day, I went to the Basler Munster Cathedral and used the tram to get across town. Later, we ended up at a night market where we had rolls filled with raclette cheese and lots of chocolate dipped fruit.

We had some time to wander through the Kunstmuseum Basel and see the art and explore the other side of the river.

This day, I went to a forest preserve about 30 minutes outside of the city center of Basel and was happily surprised to find endless wild mushrooms and dense forests.

Throughout the week, I spent most afternoons at a cafe or coffee shop nearby and got familiar with the neighborhood that our hotel was in.

On our last full day in Basel, we took a train ride to Lucerne. We took a cog wheel up to the top of Mount Pilatus at almost 7,000 feet.

Leanna, Karl, Molly and their dog, Annie! The weather was perfect and we spent time at a few places around Carter lake taking photos.

This location was wonderful for some shade, fall colors, the water and a nice pine forest.

Event Photographer in Boulder at the Limelight Hotel

The Museum of Boulder’s Gala- FEAST! was wonderful. This new museum exhibit was announced and celebrated at the Limelight Hotel gala to raise money for food. Many people were honored for their dedication to community in Boulder and so much money was raised for the museum.

The Limelight Hotel in Boulder is a great location for a gala. The event space has a long hall with plenty of space for cocktails to be served, music played and silent auctions to be set up. The reception space is huge and can hold hundreds of guests. The servers and workers at the hotel were attentive and kept the event moving on time!

The stage is spacious as well for musicians to perform and to host speakers. The updated hotel had great light for photos, lots of beautiful backdrops and space.
