It was such a perfect evening at the Lincoln Park Boardwalk in Chicago. I love sessions where I’m able to walk around with friends and clients and hear about their lives while making images of them in amazing golden hour light! Brittany and Kyle’s kindness and love for each other will help make them such great parents. I was so happy I was able to be in Chicago to take photos for them recently and document the beginning of their next big adventure.

Taylor’s beautiful maternity session. Taylor and I have done countless photoshoots together of her family and dogs. All of the photos in the past were out in natural light and in mountain areas. So for these photos, Taylor wanted a more styled, clean look to help accentuate her features and bring out her confidence and beauty. As I’ve begun to learn from friends and clients who are having children, the process of the body changing so drastically can be a huge challenge to embrace. It was important to me that Taylor felt confident in herself with these photos. It can be hard to feel like yourself when your body or your abilities changes. I’m learning more everyday about the importance of finding confidence internally as well as externally. There are so many factors to this, but I know that the more anyone is able to love themselves fully and genuinely, the easier life gets <3 I was honored to be a part of this for Taylor and in helping her feel like her best self in these photos.

I showed up at McKinley's doorstep to her holding a miniature Australian Shepherd in her arm and holding back a larger dog, saying "Annah!!! Hi! Do you like dogs?" haha
From the moment I met her, she was so energetic and welcoming. It felt like we'd been friends for years! McKinley has such a warm personality. She is a hardworking woman who knows her values and I admire her so much for that. I aim to make photo sessions as empowering as they can be. It’s important to feel confident in your body and know your worth. Even if the photos are for updated career headshots, it’s important for that confidence to come through.
. McKinley is indigenous and advocates for the rights of women as well as indigenous people at protests and rallies when she has free time. After spending a little time with McKinley for these photos, I knew we would see each other again as friends soon. I’m so grateful for our connection. I’m inspired by McKinley’s success in her career and even more, I’m inspired by her beliefs and the strong voice she uses to speak them.

This elopement at Chautauqua in Boulder, CO was beautiful. We caught a break from the cold February weather and the sun came out for a 50, 60 degree day! It was perfect. We had a little ceremony in the open area at the bottom on Chautauqua then drove up Flagstaff to take photos at some lookout points. Lauren and Ken were giddy with excitement the entire time. Telling each other “I love you” at any chance they got, and really taking the day in. I hardly even needed to prompt them for poses! I loved this winter elopement. It was a little more quiet than usual in Boulder this day, and it was magical.
